The Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth (MACY) is here to make sure the voices of young people are heard. We make sure their rights are respected and that they have a say in decisions that affect their lives. We advocate, investigate, and review public services in Manitoba to ensure they are meeting the needs of children, youth, and young adults.
The Manitoba Advocate for Children and Youth (MACY) is an independent office of the Manitoba legislature. That means we are outside the government and are not a part of any government department. The Manitoba Advocate is empowered by legislation to support and advise children, youth, and young adults of their rights and the services which should be available to them.
We support, assist, and inform anyone under 21 of their rights and which public services are available to them. We also review and investigate public services and raise concerns with the government or other organizations if changes are needed to improve systems so public services meet the needs of children and youth in Manitoba.
